Today is our longest day. We start in Fluhalp and hike down the old glacier moraine down to Gant and it’s boggy soil. We will then hike to Findeltriftji, named the Lost Valley after the book of the Zermatter writer Hannes Taugwalder. The Lost Valley, a small, idyllic alluvial plain in the Findel Valley above Zermatt. Nestled between the left moraine of the dwindling Findel glacier and the northern escarpment of the Stockhorn, it is an absolutely enchanting place. In the valley itself, the hiker enjoys total peace and a magnificent view of the Matterhorn.

After having discovered this wonderful landscape, full of misteries we will walk back down to Grünsee where we will have a swim in the “green lake” or just enjoy the hospitality of Steffi and Kurt at Ze Seewjinu.

After our breakfast at Ze Seewjinu with a view on the Matterhorn, we will take our backpacks and start hiking direction of Riffelalp through a wonderful, easy path and good smelling path between larches and arolla pines. From Riffelalp we will start our descent to Zermatt, taking a break at the small and isolated Rittihut. Before we arrive in Zermatt, we will go down the Gorner Gorge and enjoy a view in the water world of the Gorner river making it’s way down in the valley. From there it is only a few meters back to the reality and the crowd of Zermatt.
